Artist’s Bio

I am an expressive landscape artist working in Berwick upon Tweed and Newark on Trent.

I have an atelier training from the London Fine Art Studios 2017 and a diploma in oil painting from the art school of Martin Kinnear (RCA) 2025.

After 32 years working as a doctor in the UK, I bring a unique understanding of holistic and spiritual wellbeing to my art. I feel a profound connection with the natural world and am compelled to paint my response, to capture some of her spirituality. The sea, in particular, has brought me great strength and vitality when I have needed it. The power and energy excite, restores and grounds me.

Remote and wild landscapes are at the heart of my work. These elements, combined with my island roots - much of my childhood spent in the west coast of Ireland, a working sabbatical in the Outer Hebrides, and explorations in and around Berwick upon Tweed - deeply inform my artistic expression.

My practice is strongly influenced by the works of J.M.W. Turner, Joan Eardley, James Morrison, David Bomberg, and Martin Kinnear.

Starting with a plein air sketch in acrylic paints, I then work directly in oils, incorporating oil pastels and occasionally collage into my mixed media pieces. The versatility of oils provides rich colour, exciting optics and expressive mark making.

I invite you to experience my paintings not simply as visual representations but as spaces of reflection and renewal.

I hope you find a painting that brings you pleasure.
