Artist’s Bio

Shauna began painting in oils in 2017 with a short course at the London Fine Art Studios, where she was introduced to the principles of atelier training. Since then, she has studied under artist Martin Kinnear at the Norfolk Painting School, participating in short courses, studio talks, and latterly a Diploma in Oil Painting at Kinnear’s Scotch Corner studio.

Her artistic practice is influenced by the works of J.M.W. Turner, Joan Eardley, James Morrison, David Bomberg, and Martin Kinnear.

With 32 years working as a doctor in the UK, Shauna has always embraced holistic wellbeing. Now, she channels this ethos into creating art that calms the mind and nourishes the soul, inspired by the healing power of nature and art.

Dramatic, wild, remote landscapes are at the heart of her work. She is captivated by the restorative qualities of the sea; the invigorating power of the skies; the magic of the moon. These elements, combined with her island roots - including childhood travels on the west coast of Ireland, a working sabbatical in the Outer Hebrides, and recent explorations in Berwick upon Tweed - deeply inform her artistic expression.

She works directly in oils, incorporating pastels in mixed media pieces. The versatility of oils allows for rich colour, exciting optics, and expressive mark-making, enhancing evocative landscapes.

She hopes you find a painting that brings you pleasure.
